Development of a recommendation engine with proven efficacy

With financial support from the European Union and the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, research is being conducted into how artificial intelligence can be used to provide users with personalized recommendations for maintaining health with proven effectiveness.

Project Contents

Vilua Healthcare has set itself the goal of promoting the health of the population. After all, keeping people healthy early on makes more medical sense and is cheaper than treating diseases. For this purpose Vilua Healthcare offers personal services such as coaching as well as digital products such as the Vilua+ App.

In order to expand and further improve our range of services, artificial intelligence (AI) is being applied. Within the framework of a project co-financed by the European Union and the State of Mecklenburg Vorpommern – represented by the Technologie-Beratungs-Institut – research is being conducted into how AI can be used to provide users with personalized and effective recommendations for maintaining good health.

The AI is used to identify patterns of behaviour and derive recommendations that have proven to be particularly effective. These recommendations are then discussed between coach and user. In a further development stage, the communication between chatbot and user can then take place. A particular challenge of the project is to explain the AI and make it transparent so that the user has confidence in its results. The research and development project is planned for the next three years and ends in 2023.

Vilua Healthcare is supported in the project by the University Medical Center Greifswald.
